Penzance -> The Lake District

One day late with this blog and it's only Day 1! We left Penzance in good time - you could hardly see the boys in the back of the car but they coped. Picked up the campervan in Plymouth and set off north. And, oh boy, what a hideous journey. The M5/M6 junction - need I say more?!

And to cap it all, the further north we got, the worse the weather got until we reached the Lakes and it was thick mist and drizzle. We should really have expected it though as the hosepipe ban started in the Lakes on Thursday and, according to my parents, it's rained pretty much solidly every since! We did manage a Pimms but it was inside and not on the terrace, sadly.

The big news of the day was that we think the boys were mentioned on both Dale Winton's and Simon Mayo's shows on Radio 2 yesterday afternoon. I say "think" because the radio reception in the van gave up both times and all we heard was "Hopson family" and then "17 and 15 respectively" and "Help for Heroes" and both times it died out! Have been trying to find it on the listen again service but have failed so far.

Then we tried to get on the site late last night to find a very weird message from a hacker. Slight panic (to put it mildly) but have spoken to a computer whizz friend this morning (thanks Steve - Apple Crumble in Penzance) and he thinks our web-site hosting company has been hacked in to. They are obviously aware of the situation as the weird message has now gone but the news page is very out of date and you can't place orders at the moment. If you would like to order anything, please phone the shop on (01736) 367069. The timing of this is unbelievable (I haven't been away for over a year and now it happens!) but please bear with us and the hosting company and our web-site designer should be able to sort it out in the not too distant future. As ever, legitimate companies trying to run a business get hit.

Am writing this in a supermarket car park in Kendal, in the rain and we're now heading further north to John O'Groats - more rain expected apparently, deep joy.
